Chiyoda – Saipem Joint Venture awarded contract for FEED and EARLY WORKS for PETRONAS LNG Train 9 in Malaysia

Chiyoda Corporation(“Chiyoda”)(TSE:6366 ISIN: JP3528600004) announces that Chiyoda, as JV Leader, jointly with Saipem S.p.A of Italy, has been awarded a Contract for FEED*1 and EARLY WORKS for PETRONAS LNG Train 9 Project in Bintulu Sarawak, Malaysia, under the dual FEED scheme envisaged by PETRONAS.

The Project is intended to add a new 9th LNG train with capacity of 3.6 million ton per annum to the existing LNG production complex in operation at Bintulu. The feed gas for this Train 9 comes from various offshore gas fields developed by PETRONAS.

As overall schedule, the target RFSU*3 date is set at 4th quarter of 2015, and to attain this schedule target, PETRONAS adopted a dual FEED scheme, wherein two (2) contractors are contracted to compete in FEED design and EPC price proposal as a whole. Chiyoda – Saipem joint venture was selected and awarded as one of the contractors for this task. Chiyoda and Saipem concluded a cooperation agreement to develop onshore LNG and Upstream projects in 2011. The Project execution will be developed by an integrated team at Saipem’s office in Milan, Italy.
