The Bureau of Land Management North Dakota Field Office is seeking public comments regarding the proposed Bakkenlink pipeline project which will go across North Dakota from Beaver Lodge to Fryburg. The BLM will accept comments on the Environmental Assessment (EA) for a 30-day period which will end on Sept. 15, 2012.

Those who provide comments are advised that before including their address, phone number, e-mail address, or other personal identifying information, they should be aware that the entire comment – including the personal identifying information – may be made publicly available at any time. While those commenting can ask in their comments to withhold personal identifying information from public review, the BLM cannot guarantee that they will be able to do so.

The EA analyzes the potential environmental impacts associated with the construction of the 132-mile long, 12-inch diameter welded steel crude oil pipeline. The proposed pipeline is designed to carry up to 65,000 barrels of oil per day, with expansion capabilities of up to 100,000 barrels per day. The pipeline would be buried underground and would follow existing pipeline and utility easements and corridors where feasible.
The BLM is the designated lead federal agency preparing the EA and the U.S. Forest Service and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers are cooperating agencies.

To obtain a copy of the EA and associated documents on a CD, contact Linda Gisvold at the North Dakota Field Office, 99 23rd Avenue West, Dickinson, ND 58601. An electronic version of the EA is also available at http://blm.gov/gnkd
