At Novoportovskoe oil-gas-condensate field, the first production well drilled on well pad No. 2 tested first oil. This directional well, 2,200 meters long, was spud in in May 2012. As of today, work is being done at the field to build a central oil gathering and processing facility (CPF), lay oil gathering lines and build a gas turbine power plant.

By the end of 2012, another exploratory well is planned to be reactivated and four new production wells to spud in at Novoportovskoe field. In winter 2013, three exploratory wells and one production well will be hydrofractured. Today, Novoportovskoe is the northernmost field among the producing oil-gas-condensate fields on the Yamal Peninsula.

“Production of first oil from Novoportovskoe field is the new stage in our project here. When the production wells are put onstream we will be able to get a better understanding of the field’s production potential and update our development program. As the well testing and field construction activities proceed, we can prepare Novoportovskoe to a year-round production which is expected to start in 2014”, — Gazprom Neft First Deputy CEO Vadim Yakovlev said.

REFERENCE:

Novoportovskoe oil-gas-condensate field is located in Yamal District of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Region, 250 km away from the city of Nadym. The field exploration and production license is held by Gazprom Neft Novy Port, LLC, the operator is Gazprom Neft.

Novoportovskoe field C1 and C2 recoverable reserves are estimated at over 230 mmt of oil and 270 bcm of gas.

In spring 2011, Gazprom Neft confirmed being capable to arrange a year-round export of oil from the field by sea. For this purpose, the Vaygach nuclear-powered icebreaker made a trial trip from the port of Sabetta (north-east of the Yamal Peninsula) to the Kamenny Cape, 400 km south, which is chosen as a possible point of export for oil produced from Novoportovskoe field. The ice-free period in this part of the Ob Guba Bay lasts three months — from July to September.
