Telvent GIT, S.A., a leading real-time IT solutions and information provider for a sustainable world, announced today that it has won a new contract to develop a project for PT. Pertamina Gas — Indonesia’s largest oil and gas producer and distributor.

The project complements the construction and operation of the new Tempino to Plaju Crude Oil Pipeline (TPCOP), which is PT. Pertamina Gas’ first liquids pipeline. The new pipeline will supplement an existing 80-year-old, manpower-operated pipeline. The company chose proven supplier Telvent, as well as solutions from Telvent’s parent company, Schneider Electric, for the synergies between the two companies. Together they provide a complete, integrated turnkey solution to control and manage processes from field to business. This ensures increased efficiency, time and costs savings.

To help the company automate and modernize this important new liquids infrastructure, Telvent will deliver its pipeline monitoring technology, a highly distributed real-time platform that makes the most of supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) capabilities to optimize operations, maintenance and business management. The solution also includes Telvent’s advanced industry-leading Liquids Management System, which will enhance operations, measurement, product quality control and business optimization.

The final main component is Telvent’s station control solution, which extends the same real-time performance, historical and real-time trending, advanced alarm management and strong security for individual stations, as provided at the main control room.

As part of this comprehensive and integrated station control installation, Schneider Electric’s automation solution will be installed. It will connect remote field instrumentation to the station and main control rooms for optimization of pipeline operations and business management. Schneider Electric’s Emergency Shutdown System will also be incorporated to ensure the safety and security of this critical infrastructure.

“We are proud to once again be PT. Pertamina Gas’ partner for such an important, high profile project, which will safely and securely support the energy needs of so many throughout Indonesia,” said Telvent's Chairman and CEO, Ignacio Gonzalez. “Together, with Schneider Electric, we are able to offer a holistic solution that ensures a more efficient pipeline system and allows for future expansion and technology upgrades.”

The TPCOP pipeline project will be completed by the end of 2012. This is the second project between PT. Pertamina Gas and Telvent. In 2010, Telvent was chosen to provide SCADA and advanced Gas Suite solutions to support the company’s Jakarta headquarters and five local gas pipeline area control centers.
