On 7th of September 2012 Lotos EPN spudded its first partner operated well in Norway waters, the 7/11-13 exploration well “Geite prospect” in PL 497. LOTOS has a 10% share in this license. The well is located approximately 30 km west of the Ula filed.

The well is being drilled by jack-up Maersk Guardian, at a water depth of 80m. The operator is Det norske Oljeselskap. The current estimated operation time for this is 93 days.

The well is targeting gross potential resources in the range of 80 million to 300 million barrels of oil equivalent (boe). The prognosed reservoir is a Triassic sandstone.

After completing the Geite well, the rig Mærsk Guardian will be moved to drill our the LOTOS EPN operated Skagen well, in PL 498. The target is the Danian chalk. Both wells due to the drilling program for this fall/winter will be drilled back to back.
