Iraqi (OPLC) Oil Pipe Lines Company signed a contract with KOGAS Korean Company to extend two pipelines to transfer liquefied gas between Karkuk & Baiji.

Mr. Hashim Abdulghafoor the Director General of (OPLC), said in his speech during the contract signature ceremony that the oil & gas pipelines was sabotaged during the last years and was rehabilitated in a record time.

As well as he shown that the contract is a beginning step within the big projects to rehabilitate the pipeline networks 7000 kilometers in the Iraqi governorates.

Mr. Abdulghafoor shown that the pipeline extension tender was public and more than 18 companies offered to apply the project, but the Korean company wan the tender because they offered the lower price between eight companies. As well, the offers were discussed technically & commercially by the committee which is concerned in the tender's permissions.

Mr. Abdulghafoor assured that the application of such projects will raise the dry & liquefied gas pumped quantities between Karkuk and Baiji in addition to electric stations & reservoirs.

Mr. Jang Jean Song the deputy of the Korean company said that the company applies many projects in Iraq like the fields of Akkas, Mansouria and Badra as well as the company has 28 projects in 16 countries like Mozambique, Canada and Australia.

Mr. Assim Jihad the spokesman of the Iraqi oil ministry assured that the signature of such contracts will develop the oil production and raise the exports.as well as he said that the time table of the project 22 months is unable to be extended according to the items of the contract between the oil ministry & Kogas and the total cost of the contract is 128 million dollars and the longest pipeline is 110 kilometers ling.
