Statoil has completed another successful appraisal well in PL265 in the Johan Sverdrup discovery together with partners Petoro, Det norske oljeselskap and Lundin.

"Mapping the reservoir in the Johan Sverdrup discovery represents one of the main challenges as there are significant variations in reservoir quality and thickness in various parts of the discovery”, says Gro Haatvedt, senior vice president exploration Norway.

“Well 16/2-14 confirms that this part of the Johan Sverdrup field has the same exceptionally good reservoir with about 30 meters being oil saturated.”
