Today, the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy announced the allocation of production licenses in the licensing round encompasses mature areas on the Norwegian continental shelf (APA 2012). Det norske oljeselskap ASA was awarded eight new licenses, three of these as operator.

In total 40 companies was offered shares in the 51 new production licenses in the North Sea, the Norwegian Sea and the Barents Sea.

Det norske is very pleased with the allocation. “By awarding Det norske shares in eight licenses the Ministry proves trust in us a company. We are especially satisfied with the role as operator in our first priority”, comments Sr. VP Exploration Bjørn Martinsen.

It is very positive that we by this strengthen our established core areas.

Minister of Petroleum and Energy Ola Borten Moe is pleased to see strong, broad-based interest in the most well-known parts of the continental shelf. "This year’s licensing round confirms that Norway’s combination of framework conditions and geological opportunities is internationally competitive,” comments Ola Borten Moe.
