WorleyParsons is pleased to announce that EP PetroEcuador (Empresa Estatal Petróleos del Ecuador), the national oil company of Ecuador, has extended WorleyParsons’ Project Management Consultancy Services contract for the Esmeraldas Refinery Rehabilitation Project. With this extension the total project value exceeds WorleyParsons’ threshold for contract announcements to the ASX.

EP PetroEcuador’s Esmeraldas Refinery is located on the north coast of Ecuador and at 110,000 barrels per day is the largest in Ecuador. The project is a significant revamp and the modernization effort includes three plant shutdowns and multiple international and local EPC contracts.

WorleyParsons has been working on the Esmeraldas Refinery Rehabilitation Project since December 2011. The contract extension will enable WorleyParsons to inspect and manage the ongoing revamp of the Esmeraldas Refinery fluid catalytic cracking unit along with associated utilities. The contract extension secures WorleyParsons’ ongoing involvement with the project through the completion of construction phase.

Commenting, WorleyParsons’ Chief Executive Officer Andrew Wood said, “This contract demonstrates the commitment that WorleyParsons shares with EP PetroEcuador to complete the planned upgrade of the Esmeraldas Refinery on time and safely.”
