  • Want a weekly review of refining news?

An explosion occurred in a unit at the Total Antwerp refinery at around 3:00 p.m. on November 19. Unfortunately, two contractor employees were killed. Our thoughts are with their families.

Following the explosion, some of the units were shut down and the emergency plan activated. The situation is now under control.

The explosion occurred while maintenance was being performed on a steam generation system in a gasoline production unit.

No fire resulted and no hydrocarbons were released.
