KBR (NYSE: KBR) announced today that it has been awarded a three-year general construction contract by a major steam-assisted gravity drainage operator at an oil sands facility near Fort McMurray, Alberta, Canada. The contract award is for plant modifications, including turnaround, maintenance and sustaining capital projects, to increase capacity and enhance safety, reliability and efficiency.

Expected revenue from the contract was included in the 2013 fourth quarter backlog of unfilled orders for the Services segment. The contract value was not disclosed.

"This project is an excellent opportunity for KBR to continue providing our turnaround and maintenance expertise on these high-profile oil sands projects," said Mitch Dauzat, Group President, KBR Services. "KBR's longstanding position in the Canadian market enables it to deliver superior maintenance strategies."

In addition to executing work to increase plant production capacity, this award will allow the client to streamline its maintenance services under one contractor instead of multiple providers. This service will offer the client considerable cost savings, a more consistent workforce and improved planning and collaboration.
