Accident at the coking plant in Madero Refinery

At approximately 14:15 hours today a fire occurred in the drum of the coking plant at "Francisco I. Madero" Refinery. No fire or damage to facilities was raised.

Unfortunately, as a result of this incident, a worker named Renato Castillo Palacios died.

Eleven workers are being treated at the Regional Hospital of PEMEX: Paul Felix Lopez, Marco Antonio Perez Barron, Leura Nicolás García, Luis Gerardo Monreal Ahumada, Villagrana Gabriel Martinez and Jose Jesus Flores Salas.

Also, Juan Carlos Alanis, Carlos Ruíz Vázquez, Daniel Castillo Roberto Morales and Wong Refugio Morales, who also receive specialized medical care, and Job Carrillo Garcia, who was with dehydration from heat

Note that the coking plant was out of operation for maintenance work being carried out at the time of the accident.

Petróleos Mexicanos expresses its deepest condolences to the families of worker Palacios Castillo.

Pemex Refining technicians are analysing the incident to determine the root cause of the accident.
