The Schahin - Modec, which contracted to build and operate the FPSO Cidade De Mangaratiba, began on Saturday (16/8) to the output of the unit BrasFels shipyard in Angra dos Reis. This platform vessel will operate in the area of Iracema Sul, in the Lula field, located in the Pre-Salt Pole of the Santos Basin, off the coast of the State of Rio de Janeiro.

Provided with local content of 65%, construction and integration of modules in Brazil, involved four sites of works in Rio de Janeiro, located in Itaguai Fundão Island, Niterói, Angra dos Reis, plus one in Bahia.

Anchored to 240 miles offshore, in water depths of 2200 meters, the Cidade De Mangaratiba is connected to 8 producing wells and 8 injection, having capacity to produce 150 000 barrels of oil and compress 8 million cubic meters of natural gas per day and to store 1.6 million barrels of oil. Additionally, is able to inject 240,000 barrels of water per day. Oil production should commence in the fourth quarter of this year.

FPSO (Floating Production Storage Offloading Unit) is the acronym that identifies a floating production, storage and offloading of oil. Saint-platform ships with capacity to separate oil from gas and water during production, storage load it in to finally transfer it to tankers, which will be responsible for transporting tanks. Furthermore, the gas produced will be exported to shore by pipeline.

Technical characteristics

  • Water depth of operation: 2.200m;
  • capacity of oil production: 150,000 barrels / day;
  • capacity natural gas treatment: 8 million m³ / day;
  • Accommodation: 150 persons.

The area comprises the Iracema Sul concession BM-S-11, which we operate (65%) in partnership with BG E & P Brazil Ltda. (25%) and Petrogal Brazil SA (10%).

New platforms will contribute to achieving production target

In addition to the FPSO Cidade De Mangaratiba, also come into operation, even in 2014, the FPSO Cidade de Ilhabela, in Sapinhoá North. Each of these platforms will be capable of producing up to 150 000 bpd.

For the fourth quarter of 2015, we plan to put into production the FPSO Cidade de Itaguai, which will operate in the area of Iracema Norte, in the Santos Basin, with capacity up to 150 thousand barrels per day. For 2016, are scheduled the FPSO Cidade de Marica, Lula Alto, and the FPSO Cidade de Saquarema in Lula Central, each with a capacity of up to 150 000 bpd, and the FPSO Cidade de Caraguatatuba in Lapa.

Also, come into operation eight FPSOs type "replicant" (set of platforms using the same engineering design), the first of which is the first oil planned for 2016 in the area of South Lula. FPSOs The first of four scheduled to operate in the areas of Assignment is also planned for 2016 in the area of Buzios. To complete the 19 systems scheduled for the Santos Basin, will be installed in 2018, a production system in Carcará.
