On Wednesday, 15 October 2014, PT. Arun NGL shipped LNG cargo to Korea Gas Corporation (Kogas). It was the last shipment of LNG from the project that has become the pioneer in the global LNG development.

Arun’s LNG was shipped for the first time on 14 October 1977. Until the last shipment today, this project has shipped more than 4,000 LNG cargoes to both domestic and foreign buyers.

“This long work is only possible with support from all stakeholders.” said SKK Migas Head of Public Relations Affairs, Rudianto Rimbono.
The “Peusijuk” (thanksgiving ceremony) for the last shipment of LNG was held at Berth 2, Special Port of Blang Lancang, Lhokseumawe, Aceh. This ceremony was attended by SKK Migas Deputy for Operations Management, Muliawan, President Director PT Arun NGL Gusti Aziz, President Director PT Pupuk Iskandar Muda Eko Sunarko, Secretary of North Aceh Regional Government, Isa Anshari, and Chief of Military Command Unit 0103 of North Aceh, Major Kav Edwan Darno.

PT. Arun NGL produces LNG from the gas supply derived from Arun field and North Sumatra Offshore (NSO) operated by ExxonMobil. With the expiration of LNG contract, SKK Migas and operator are now focusing to ensure the continuity of domestic gas supply from those two fields. Additionally, SKK Migas and operator are working to commercialize gas and condensate potentials existing in both fields.

Currently, the LNG production facilities in those areas are being modified into an LNG receiving facility. Although not involved in this modification process, SKK Migas and the operators fully support the government’s plan.

In addition to generate contribution of foreign exchange to the state, over 37 years Arun LNG project has provided job opportunities for the people living surrounding the operation area. Majority of the suppliers are from local companies. Moreover, the operator has also manage to promote its social investment through healthcare programs.
