SNC-Lavalin (TSX: SNC) is pleased to announce that Kentz Corporation, a member of the SNC-Lavalin Group, has commenced work under its three-year Master Services Agreement for Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) construction services for Nexen Energy ULC ('Nexen') on the Base Plant Projects at their Long Lake facility.

Kentz will provide its specialist E&I construction services over the three-year agreement; initially on the carbonyls filtration project, before moving onto the dilutent recovery unit (DRU) project.

Nexen is responsibly developing energy resources in some of the world's most significant basins, including the UK North Sea, offshore West Africa, the United States and Western Canada. Nexen is a wholly-owned subsidiary of CNOOC Limited.

Nexen's Long Lake facilities began producing in 2008. The facilities are comprised of an integrated steam-assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) and upgrading operation that uses proprietary Or Crude™ technology, as well as hydrocracking and gasification to produce premium Synthetic Crude oil. Nexen's operational capacity at the Long Lake facilities is 72,000 barrels of bitumen per day (bbls/d) which, when upgraded, is capable of generating approximately 58,500 bbls/d of crude oil.

"This award with Nexen Energy underpins the value of our specialist field services, such as electrical and instrumentation construction, and we are very pleased to be working with Nexen as a client," said Christian Brown, President, Oil & Gas, SNC-Lavalin Group Inc. "We have added additional structural, mechanical, and piping capabilities over the past year in the Canadian region, and now, as part of the SNC-Lavalin Group, we have the ability to offer clients complete end-to-end expertise for their projects."
