Sakhalin Energy offloaded the 1000th cargo of LNG, produced since the start of the first Russian LNG plant «Sakhalin-2», company’s press-service reported.

The jubilee cargo will be delivered to Japan and apportioned between two buyers, Tokyo Electric and Tokyo Gas.

Sakhalin Energy holds over 4% share of global LNG market. Major consumers of Sakhalin LNG are Japan and South Korea. Among other buyers are China, Taiwan, India, Kuwait, and Thailand.

Sakhalin-2 LNG plant was launched in February 2009, since then 65 million tonnes of LNG have been exported.

The company’s shareholders are affiliated companies of PAO Gazprom (50% + 1 share), Royal Dutch Shell plc. (27.5% — 1 share), Mitsui and Co. Ltd. (12.5%) and Mitsubishi Corporation (10%).
