Petroplus Holdings AG (SIX: PPHN) today announced that it has started a safe partial shut down of its Reichstett refinery due to strike actions taken by workers at the refinery. The remaining units are planned to be safely shut down at the beginning of next week. The restart of the refinery is dependent on the outcome of the strikes. Petroplus further announced that a meeting with the Works Council at the Reichstett facility to discuss the evolution of the site is scheduled on October 21, 2010. The Company will provide further updates after the meeting via press release.

The Company also announced that it has reduced crude oil processing at its Cressier refinery due to the labor strike at the port in Fos Sur Mer, France, which is disrupting the supply of crude to the refinery. Petroplus is taking steps to continue to supply oil products to its customers.

Petroplus Holdings AG is the largest independent refiner and wholesaler of petroleum products in Europe. Petroplus focuses on refining and currently owns and operates six refineries across Europe: the Coryton Refinery on the Thames Estuary in the United Kingdom, the Belgium Refining Corporation Refinery in Antwerp, Belgium, the Petit Couronne Refinery in Petit Couronne, France, the Ingolstadt Refinery in Ingolstadt, Germany, the Reichstett Refinery near Strasbourg, France, and the Cressier Refinery in the canton of Neuchâtel, Switzerland.
