Foster Wheeler AG (Nasdaq: FWLT) announced today that a subsidiary in its Global Engineering and Construction Group has been awarded a contract by Star Petroleum Refining Company Limited (SPRC) for front-end engineering design (FEED) for the Residue Fluidized Catalytic Cracking Unit (RFCCU) Revamp Turnaround and Inspection Project at its refinery at Map Ta Phut in Thailand.

The terms of the award were not disclosed and the contract value was included in the company's first-quarter 2011 bookings.

The objective of the project is to revamp the RFCCU to improve on-stream reliability together with environmental and performance improvements.

Foster Wheeler will carry out the FEED for this major revamp, including licensor selection, and will also work with SPRC to evaluate the existing RFCCU maintenance and reliability philosophies with a view to identifying any changes that may be needed in the future to retain the continuous improvement of on-stream performance.

The FEED is expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2012.

"This award reflects the winning combination of the in-depth technical expertise of our RFCCU consultants, our extensive portfolio of refinery turnarounds and revamp successes, and the local service delivery of our Sriracha operation," said Umberto della Sala, interim chief executive officer of Foster Wheeler AG. "I am confident that, together with SPRC, we will develop a cost-effective and practical solution which meets our client's objectives."
