Ngamia-1 oil discovery in Kenya Rift Basin
Tullow Oil plc (Tullow) announces that the Ngamia-1 exploration well in Kenya has encountered in excess of 20 metres of net oil pay.
The well, located in the Turkana County of Kenya Block 10BB, was drilled to an intermediate depth of 1,041 metres and has been successfully logged and sampled. Moveable oil with an API greater than 30 degrees has been recovered to surface. This oil has similar properties to the light waxy crude discovered in Uganda.

Fourth Tanzania well discovers gas
BG Group today announced its fourth Tanzanian gas discovery from the Jodari-1 exploration well located in Block 1 offshore southern Tanzania. Preliminary evaluation of the well results indicates gross recoverable resources are in the range of 2.5 to 4.4 trillion cubic feet (tcf) of gas.

Repsol to develop the Reggane North gas fields in Algeria
Repsol and partners Sonatrach, RWE Dea and Edison have been granted authorization from the Algerian national agency ALNAFT (Agence Nationale pour the L'expertise des Hydrocarbures Resources) to develop the North Reggane project in the Algerian Sahara desert.

CAMAC Energy Awarded Two Offshore Exploration Blocks in Gambia
—CAMAC Energy Inc. (NYSE Amex: CAK), a U.S.-based energy company engaged in the exploration, development and production of oil and gas, today announced that it has entered into an agreement with the Gambian Ministry of Petroleum (on behalf of the Government of the Republic of The Gambia) on the provisional award of two offshore exploration blocks, A2 and A5, in water depths of between 600-1,000 meters. CAMAC Energy will be the operator with 85% interest in the blocks, which cover a total surface area of 2,666 square kilometers.

Total to Explore Angola’s Deepwater Kwanza Basin
Total today announced that it is expanding its significant presence in Angola through the successful application for three new exploration blocks in the deepwater Kwanza Basin. Following an international licensing round, Total signed three production sharing agreements with state-owned Sonangol on December 20, 2011. Total will operate Blocks 40 and 25 with respectively a 50% and a 35% interest and be a partner with a 15% interest in Block 39. Sonangol is the concession holder for these acreages.

Petrofac awarded project in Mozambique
Petrofac, the international oil & gas facilities service provider has been awarded a US$4 million lump-sum engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract by Sasol Petroleum Temane, a subsidiary of Sasol Petroleum International, for the Pande and Temane gas field developments in Mozambique.

New oil discovery in Nigeria's offshore OML 102
Total today announced that its subsidiary Total E&P Nigeria Ltd. (TEPNG) has made a new oil discovery in the southeastern corner of Oil Mining Lease (OML) 102 in Nigeria. The discovery is located 65 kilometers off the southeastern coast of the country, about 15 kilometers southeast of the Ofon field.
