Statoil becomes operator in pre-salt offshore Angola
Statoil (OSE:STL, NYSE:STO) has been awarded operatorship for blocks 38 and 39 and partner position in blocks 22, 25, 40 in the Kwanza basin in Angola.
This follows the conclusion of the competitive Limited International Bidding Round organised by Sonangol for access to pre-salt acreage in the Kwanza Basin offshore Angola.

Cobalt International Energy, Inc. Announces Execution of Production Sharing Contract for Block 20 Offshore Angola and Provides U
Cobalt International Energy, Inc. (“Cobalt”) (NYSE:CIE) announced that at an official signing ceremony today in Luanda, Sonangol and Cobalt executives signed the Production Sharing Contract for Block 20 offshore Angola. Cobalt has been named the operator of Block 20 and has a 40% working interest in the block under this agreement. Other partners in Block 20 include Sonangol Pesquisa e Produção, S.A. (30%), BP Exploration Angola (Kwanza Benguela) Limited (20%) and China Sonangol International Holding Limited (10%).

Eni signs the Production Sharing Contract for the exploration of Block 35 in deepwater offshore Angola
Eni and Sonangol E.P. signed today in Luanda a Production Sharing Contract (PSC) for the exploration of Block 35, which is situated in deepwater offshore Angola, 150km off the coast of the capital Luanda. The Block covers approximately 4,900 square km of potential mining acreage in the deep water of the northern Kwanza Basin, one of the most attractive areas for pre-salt exploration in West Africa.

Total to Explore Angola’s Deepwater Kwanza Basin
Total today announced that it is expanding its significant presence in Angola through the successful application for three new exploration blocks in the deepwater Kwanza Basin. Following an international licensing round, Total signed three production sharing agreements with state-owned Sonangol on December 20, 2011. Total will operate Blocks 40 and 25 with respectively a 50% and a 35% interest and be a partner with a 15% interest in Block 39. Sonangol is the concession holder for these acreages.

Angola LNG Supply Service appoints GAC to handle port & bunker fuels services
GAC has signed a global hub contract with specialist transporter of liquefied natural gas, Angola LNG Supply Service (ALSS), to provide ship agency services to its vessels. The agreement was signed by ALSS's General Manager William E. Haune, Jr. and GAC's Group President, Capt. Lars Säfverström.

Wood Group Kianda launch in Angola boosted by BP contract award
Wood Group Kianda, a joint venture involving Amílcar Nascimento, Wood Group’s Angolan business partner, and Wood Group will officially be launched in Luanda, Angola today. Sister Wood Group companies, Wood Group Mustang, Wood Group Kenny and Wood Group PSN will provide their services through the joint venture. The launch coincides with the announcement that Wood Group Kianda has secured its first contract win from BP.

Meeting between Jose' Eduardo dos Santos and Paolo Scaroni
The President of the Republic of Angola, José Eduardo dos Santos, and Eni CEO Paolo Scaroni met in Luanda today to discuss Eni's activities and projects in the country.
In the meeting, the parties talked about the important results achieved through recent exploration in Angola, including the discoveries made in offshore block 15/06, the high mineral potential areas, and progress achieved by the company in implementing the current projects under development.

The giant Pazflor development, which lies 150 kilometres offshore Luanda in Angola, was inaugurated today at a ceremony attended by José Botelho de Vasconcelos, Angola's Minister of Petroleum, Manuel Vicente, Chairman and CEO of Sonangol, Christophe de Margerie, Chairman and CEO of Total, Yves-Louis Darricarrère, President of Exploration & Production at Total; and representatives of Total and the local authorities.
