Kosmos Energy Finalizes Cap Boujdour Farm-out with Cairn Energy
Kosmos Energy (NYSE:KOS) today announced that it has entered into a farm-out agreement with Capricorn Exploration & Development Company Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Cairn Energy PLC (LSE:CNE), covering the Cap Boujdour Contract Area. Under the terms of the agreement, Cairn will acquire a 20% non-operated interest in the exploration permits comprising the Contract Area. Cairn will pay a disproportionate share of future exploration costs including a 3D seismic survey, an initial exploration well in 2014 and, if successful, two appraisal wells, all subject to maximum expenditure caps. Completion of the transaction is subject to customary closing conditions, including Moroccan Government approvals.

Aishwariya field commences oil production
The Cairn-ONGC Joint Venture (JV) has commenced production from the Aishwariya field, the third largest discovery in the Rajasthan Block (RJ-ON-90/1). The field will achieve a gradual and safe ramp up to reach the currently approved FDP rate of 10,000 bopd.

GE Technology Comes to India’s High-Pressure, High-Temperature Drilling Sector
Marking its debut in India’s high-pressure, high-temperature (HPHT) drilling and production sector, GE Oil & Gas (NYSE: GE) will supply HPHT technology to Cairn India for the further development of the Ravva oil and gas field off the coast of Andhra Pradesh in eastern India. The milestone equipment and services contract was announced today at the GE Oil & Gas 2013 Annual Meeting in Florence.

Cairn is pleased to announce the acquisition of Agora Oil & Gas AS (Agora) subject to regulatory approval, a private Norwegian company with non-operated, exploration, appraisal and development assets in the United Kingdom (UK) and Norwegian North Sea.

New licence offshore Greenland
Statoil has acquired a 30.625% working interest in the Pitu licence in Baffin Bay. The licence was awarded to Cairn Energy during the first Baffin Bay licensing round in December 2010.

$3.5 Billion Return of Cash to Shareholders
On 8 December 2011 Cairn announced the proposed return of approximately $3.5 billion of cash to Shareholders following the completion of the disposal of a 40 per cent shareholding in Cairn India to Vedanta Resources plc (“Vedanta”) in two tranches (the “Sale”).

Vedanta has confirmed that it has now satisfied the conditions under the Sale and Purchase Agreement for the acquisition of a controlling shareholding in Cairn India.

As previously announced, Cairn intends to return a substantial proportion of the proceeds from the sale to shareholders. A further announcement in this respect will be made in due course.

Cairn will now retain an approximate 22 per cent shareholding in Cairn India.
