Cenovus gains approval for Telephone Lake oil sands project
Cenovus Energy Inc. (TSX: CVE) (NYSE: CVE) has received approval from the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) and the province of Alberta for its 100%-owned Telephone Lake thermal oil sands project. The proposed project is located approximately 90 kilometres northeast of Fort McMurray, within the company’s Borealis Region of northern Alberta.

Cenovus receives approval for Grand Rapids oil sands project
Cenovus Energy Inc. (TSX: CVE) (NYSE: CVE) has received approval from the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) for its 100%-owned Grand Rapids thermal oil sands project. The proposed project is located approximately 300 kilometres north of Edmonton, within the company’s Greater Pelican Region in northern Alberta. Grand Rapids is expected to have production capacity of 180,000 barrels per day (bbls/d) and be developed in multiple phases. The project is anticipated to have a life of 40 years.

Cenovus purchases Oilsands Quest assets
An agreement by Cenovus Energy Inc. (TSX, NYSE: CVE) to purchase the remaining assets of Oilsands Quest for $10 million received approval from the Alberta Court of Queen’s Bench today. The majority of the assets are located adjacent to Cenovus’s proposed Telephone Lake oil sands project in northern Alberta.

Cenovus achieves first production at Christina Lake expansion
Cenovus Energy Inc. (TSX, NYSE: CVE) is producing oil from phase D at its Christina Lake oil sands operation approximately three months ahead of schedule and within budget. The company began injecting steam in the second quarter of this year and began producing in late July. Production at Christina Lake in August averaged more than 61,000 barrels per day (bbls/d) gross, an increase of nearly 4,000 bbls/d when compared to production in the second quarter. Christina Lake is operated by Cenovus and jointly owned with ConocoPhillips.

Cenovus receives approval for Narrows Lake project
Cenovus Energy Inc. (TSX, NYSE: CVE) has received approval from the Alberta Energy Resources Conservation Board (ERCB) to proceed with its Narrows Lake oil sands project. Narrows Lake is just north of Cenovus’s currently operating Christina Lake facility, near Conklin in northern Alberta. The project is anticipated to have gross production capacity of 130,000 barrels per day (bbls/d) and be developed in three phases. Ground work for the initial phase of 45,000 bbls/d is expected to begin this fall.

Cenovus receives approval to expand Christina Lake operation
Cenovus Energy Inc. (TSX, NYSE: CVE) has received approval from the Alberta Energy Resources Conservation Board (ERCB) to move forward with a major expansion at its Christina Lake oil sands operation. The approval covers three expansion phases (E, F and G) of 40,000 barrels per day (bbls/d) each, which would bring gross production capacity to 218,000 bbls/d once complete.
