CSB Deploys to Investigate Release of Hydrofluoric Acid at CITGO Refinery in Corpus Christi, Texas
A seven-person investigation team from the U.S. Chemical Safety Board (CSB) is deploying to the site of an accident reportedly involving the release of hydrofluoric acid (HF) at the CITGO Corpus Christi, Texas alkylation unit.

The team will be headed by Donald Holmstrom, director of the CSB’s Western Regional Office in Denver, and is expected to arrive tonight and begin work Wednesday.

CITGO Refineries Recognized by NPRA with 8 Awards for 2010 Safety Performance
CITGO Petroleum Corporation’s three refineries have been recognized by the National Petrochemical and Refiners Association (NPRA) with eight awards for their safe operations during 2010. The awards include three Meritorious Safety Performance Awards, and five Achievement Awards.

CITGO Completes Corporate-Wide Distillate Upgrade with ULSD Unit at Corpus Christi Facility
CITGO Petroleum Corporation announced the completion of construction and start-up of a 42,500 BPD unit utilizing the latest technology to produce Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel (ULSD) at its Christi, Texas refinery. With the completion of this unit, which has been in operation since December, CITGO is now capable of producing 100% ULSD at all of its refineries.
