Chevron Corporation: Lago Agrio Plaintiffs' Consultants Concede that $113 Billion Damages Claim Lacks Scientific Basis
Admissions during court-ordered depositions of the plaintiffs' own consultants confirm there is no scientific basis for the $113 billion damages claim in litigation pending in Lago Agrio, Ecuador. Over the last two weeks, attorneys for Chevron Corporation (NYSE:CVX) questioned the six consultants credited with the latest damage assessment. The sixth consultant was deposed yesterday.

Diesel spill at Neste Oil’s Porvoo refinery
Around 250 m3 of diesel fuel was involved in a spill of fuel that took place at Neste Oil’s Porvoo refinery at around 2.30 EET on the morning of Friday, 10 December. The fuel leaked from a pipeline connection when it was being transferred from one storage tank to another. Cleanup operations were initiated immediately and the leak repaired. A small amount of oil was observed on the surface of the sea in the refinery’s harbor, however. Booms were deployed to prevent the oil escaping further.

Suncor Energy responds to spill at Montreal refinery port facilities
Suncor Energy is responding to a diesel spill that occurred last night at its Montreal refinery port facilities. Current estimates indicate that approximately 35 barrels of diesel leaked into the St. Lawrence River.
