Chevron Commences Operations on Next-Generation Drillship in Deepwater Gulf of Mexico
Chevron Corporation (NYSE: CVX) announced that the Pacific Santa Ana, a deepwater drillship built to Chevron's specifications, has arrived in the Gulf of Mexico to work for Chevron under a five-year contract with a subsidiary of Pacific Drilling S.A. (NYSE: PACD). Pacific Santa Ana is the first drillship designed with the capacity to perform dual gradient drilling (DGD).

AMEC awarded topsides design contract on Mad Dog Phase 2 deepwater project, Gulf of Mexico
AMEC, the international engineering and project management company, has been awarded a contract from BP Exploration & Production Inc. (BP) to provide Front End Engineering Design services (FEED) for the topsides facilities for the second phase of the Mad Dog field development. Nexen Confirms Resource Additions at Appomattox
Nexen Inc. (TSX, NYSE: NXY) today announced completion of the evaluation of our recent drilling success on the northeast fault block of the Appomattox structure. We have demonstrated contingent recoverable resource in the northeast block of approximately 215 mmboe (50 mmboe net to Nexen), with a range of 120 to 370 mmboe (25 to 90 mmboe net to Nexen) of light oil. Future planned appraisal drilling will further refine this range. Nexen holds a 20% interest in Appomattox and a 25% interest in Vicksburg and various other blocks in the area; Shell Gulf of Mexico Inc. (Shell) holds the remaining interest and is operator.

P has reached a settlement with the Plaintiffs' Steering Committee (PSC), subject to final written agreement, to resolve the substantial majority of legitimate economic loss and medical claims stemming from the Deepwater Horizon accident and oil spill. ATP Announces Production Rates at Fourth Well at Telemark Hub
ATP Oil & Gas Corporation (NASDAQ: ATPG) today announced initial production rates at its Mississippi Canyon (“MC”) Block 942 A-3 (#2) well in excess of 7,000 barrels equivalent per day (Boe/d), of which 85% is oil. When drilled, the MC 942 A-3 well encountered 239 feet of net pay.
