GAIL Gas signs MoU with Andhra Government to set up LNG terminal on east coast
In a significant step towards ensuring the natural gas energy security for the county, GAIL Gas Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of GAIL (India) Limited – a Navratna PSU, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Andhra Pradesh on 12th January 2012 for setting up of an LNG terminal/FSRU along the state’s expansive sea coast.

Cheniere and GAIL India Sign 20-Year LNG Sale and Purchase Agreement
Cheniere Energy Partners, L.P. ("Cheniere Partners") (NYSE Amex: CQP) announced today that its subsidiary, Sabine Pass Liquefaction, LLC ("Sabine Liquefaction"), has entered into a liquefied natural gas ("LNG") sale and purchase agreement ("SPA") with GAIL (India) Limited ("GAIL") under which GAIL has agreed to purchase approximately 3.5 million tonnes per annum ("mtpa") of LNG from train four. Prior to the commencement of train four operations, GAIL will purchase bridge volumes of approximately 0.2 mtpa upon the commencement of operations of train two.

Part sale of Shareholding in Cairn India to Vedanta
Vedanta has confirmed that it has now satisfied the conditions under the Sale and Purchase Agreement for the acquisition of a controlling shareholding in Cairn India.

As previously announced, Cairn intends to return a substantial proportion of the proceeds from the sale to shareholders. A further announcement in this respect will be made in due course.

Cairn will now retain an approximate 22 per cent shareholding in Cairn India.

Punj Lloyd bags Offshore pipeline project worth Rs.469 crores (USD 97.3 million) from ONGC

BP and Reliance Industries announce incorporation of India Gas Solutions Pvt. Ltd.
Reliance Industries (RIL) and BP today announced the incorporation of India Gas Solutions Pvt. Ltd., a 50:50 joint venture company which will focus on global sourcing and marketing of natural gas in India. The joint venture company will also develop infrastructure to accelerate transportation and marketing of natural gas within the country. India Gas Solutions Pvt. Ltd. will be funded with equal equity from BP and RIL.

Petronet LNG and GDF SUEZ conclude a 0.6 million tons of LNG contract
GDF SUEZ and Petronet LNG Limited have just signed an agreement extending along 2012 under which GDF SUEZ will sell Petronet about 0.6 million tons (nine cargoes) of liquefied natural gas (LNG). The cargoes will be from sources within GDF SUEZ’ LNG portfolio and will be delivered to Petronet’s Dahej LNG terminal in India.

BG Group reaches agreement on long-term LNG sales to India
BG Group announced today it has signed a Heads of Agreement (HoA) with Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation (GSPC) for the long-term supply of up to 2.5 million tonnes per annum of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG).
