Marathon Oil Announces $2.7 Billion Sale of Norway Business
Marathon Oil Corporation (NYSE: MRO) announced today that it has entered into a definitive agreement with Det norske oljeselskap ASA under which Det norske will purchase Marathon Oil's wholly owned subsidiary, Marathon Oil Norge AS, for a total transaction value of $2.7 billion. After adjustment for debt, net working capital and interest on the net purchase price, Marathon Oil expects net proceeds of approximately $2.1 billion at closing. The effective date of the transaction is Jan. 1, 2014.

Technip awarded contract for the extension of subsea infrastructure on the Alvheim field in the North Sea
Technip was awarded by Marathon Oil Norge a contract for the extension of subsea infrastructure on the Alvheim field, located on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. The scope of work includes installation engineering, procurement, fabrication, installation and tie-in of spools and protection covers as well as installation of one manifold. The subsea operations will mainly be performed with divers at a water-depth of approximately 120 meters in this area.

Marathon Petroleum Announces Progress Toward Potential $2.2 Billion To $2.5 Billion Project In Louisiana
Today, Gov. Bobby Jindal and Marathon Petroleum Corporation announced the company is taking the next step toward a potential $2.2 billion to $2.5 billion upgrade to the company’s Garyville refinery. The company plans to file permit applications for the potential project with Louisiana’s Department of Environmental Quality at the end of April. After completing feasibility studies, Marathon Petroleum expects to make a final decision on the project by early 2015. If approved, the project would result in hydrotreating, hydrocracking and desulfurization equipment installations, along with additional infrastructure that would include buildings, tanks, cooling towers, and rail and electrical facilities.

Marathon Petroleum Corporation Commits to Sandpiper Project
Marathon Petroleum Corporation (NYSE: MPC) and Enbridge Energy Partners, L.P. announced that MPC will serve as an anchor shipper for the Sandpiper Project. MPC will fund 37.5 percent of the construction of the Sandpiper Project, which will become part of Enbridge Energy Partners' North Dakota System when it is completed. Sandpiper is targeted to be operational in early 2016. In exchange for MPC's commitment to participate in the open season for Sandpiper and its investment in this project, MPC will earn an approximate 27 percent interest in Enbridge Energy Partners' North Dakota System when Sandpiper is placed into service. MPC will also have the option to increase its ownership interest to 30 percent through additional investments in future system improvements.

Purchase of BP's Texas City Refinery and Related Assets Closes
Marathon Petroleum Corporation (NYSE: MPC) today announced that it has closed the transaction with BP to purchase several assets, including a 451,000 barrel per calendar day refinery located in Texas City, Texas. The refinery will be renamed and referred to in future MPC communications as the Galveston Bay refinery. Additionally, the transaction includes a 1,040 megawatt cogeneration facility, four light product terminals located in the Southeast, retail marketing contract assignments for approximately 1,200 branded sites representing approximately 61,000 barrels per day (bpd) of gasoline sales, three operating intrastate natural gas liquids pipelines originating at the refinery and a 50,000 bpd allocation of BP's Colonial Pipeline Company shipper history.

Marathon Petroleum Corporation and Harvest Pipeline Company Sign Letter of Intent for Truck-to-Barge Project on Ohio River
Marathon Petroleum Corporation (NYSE: MPC) and Harvest Pipeline Company signed a letter of intent (LOI) on Sept. 27, agreeing to jointly develop infrastructure that will facilitate transportation of hydrocarbon liquids production from the Utica Shale in eastern Ohio and western Pennsylvania. The project will result in up to 24,000 barrels per day (bpd) of truck unloading capacity and a terminal capable of loading up to 50,000 bpd onto barges on the Ohio River at Wellsville, Ohio.
