Neste Oil begins use of a new liquid catalyst technology at its Porvoo refinery
Neste Oil's Porvoo refinery has begun use of a new liquid catalyst technology developed by US-based Headwaters, Inc. Use of the new catalyst technology will improve the overall performance of the refinery's diesel production line 4. Neste Oil is the first refiner to utilize the new catalyst on a commercial basis, and its experience with it so far has been positive.

Neste Oil’s renewable diesel plant in Singapore selected as Project of the Year for 2010
Neste Oil’s new NExBTL renewable diesel plant in Singapore has been named Project of the Year in 2010 by the online magazine, Biofuels Digest. The plant, the world’s largest renewable diesel facility, was started up on-schedule and on-budget in November 2010. It has a capacity of 800,000 t/a and cost approx. €550 million.

Diesel spill at Neste Oil’s Porvoo refinery
Around 250 m3 of diesel fuel was involved in a spill of fuel that took place at Neste Oil’s Porvoo refinery at around 2.30 EET on the morning of Friday, 10 December. The fuel leaked from a pipeline connection when it was being transferred from one storage tank to another. Cleanup operations were initiated immediately and the leak repaired. A small amount of oil was observed on the surface of the sea in the refinery’s harbor, however. Booms were deployed to prevent the oil escaping further.

Headwaters Announces Successful Plant Trial
HEADWATERS INCORPORATED (NYSE:HW), in conjunction with Neste Oil Corporation,
announced today the completion of a successful plant trial for its proprietary HCAT™
Hydrocracking Technology at Neste Oil’s Porvoo Refinery. Data from the multi-week
commercial plant trial will be jointly presented by Neste Oil and Headwaters at the “8th
International Bottom-of-the-Barrel Technology Conference” in London on October 6, 2010.
