The results for the awards in predefined areas (APA) 2010 are now published by the government. 50 production licenses are offered to 39 companies. 22 companies are offered operatorships. In all, 41 companies applyed for production licenses on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.

New exploration acreage for Statoil
Statoil has been awarded interests in 11 production licences on the Norwegian continental shelf (NCS) yesterday, 18 January. Statoil is operator for eight of these licences.
“We’re very pleased with this year’s awards,” says Gro Gunleiksrud Haatvedt, Statoil’s senior vice president for exploration on the NCS.

Statoil, Modifications worth NOK 9 billion
Statoil has planned 990 modification projects on the Norwegian continental shelf in 2011, with a price tag totalling NOK 9 billion. The modifications will improve health, safety and the environment (HSE) – as well as earnings from the installations.

Apache Selects OGN Group for North Sea Platform Construction
Apache Corporation (NYSE, Nasdaq: APA) today announced that it has selected OGN Group, a United Kingdom-based oil and gas engineering and fabrication contractor, to build a new satellite oil production platform for the UK Forties field. The new platform will be bridge-linked to the existing Forties Alpha installation in the Apache-operated field, located on the UK continental shelf.

BP Suspends Production from Rhum Gas Field
BP confirmed today that, pending clarification from the UK Government on certain aspects of the new EU Regulations concerning restrictive measures against Iran, production from the Rhum gas field in the central North Sea has been suspended. This action has been taken in order to comply with the notification requirements in the Regulations.
