Cenovus receives approval for Grand Rapids oil sands project
Cenovus Energy Inc. (TSX: CVE) (NYSE: CVE) has received approval from the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) for its 100%-owned Grand Rapids thermal oil sands project. The proposed project is located approximately 300 kilometres north of Edmonton, within the company’s Greater Pelican Region in northern Alberta. Grand Rapids is expected to have production capacity of 180,000 barrels per day (bbls/d) and be developed in multiple phases. The project is anticipated to have a life of 40 years.

Statoil and PTTEP swap Canadian oil sands assets
Statoil and the Thai exploration and production company PTTEP have signed an agreement to divide their respective interests in the Kai Kos Dehseh (KKD) oil sands project in Alberta, Canada.

SNC-Lavalin Awarded Contract For MEG Energy’s Christina Lake Regional Project
SNC-Lavalin (TSX: SNC) has been awarded a contract by MEG Energy to complete the detailed engineering and provide procurement services for Phase 3A of the Christina Lake Regional Project steam-assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) central processing facility in northeast Alberta. The contract’s service order represents over 800,000 hours of work.

Jacobs Receives Contract from Nexen
Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (NYSE:JEC) announced today that it received a three-year contract from Nexen Energy ULC for engineering and procurement services for the Long Lake oil sands facility. Long Lake is an integrated Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage (SAGD) and upgrading operation that uses a proprietary OrCrude™ technology as well as hydrocracking and gasification to produce Premium Synthetic Crude (PSC™) oil. The Long Lake site is located approximately 40 km southeast of Fort McMurray, Alberta, Canada.
