Canada: Total sells its 49% interest in the Voyageur Upgrader project to partner Suncor Energy
Following the decision not to proceed with the Voyageur Upgrader project located in Northern Alberta, Total announces that it has reached an agreement to sell its entire 49% interest in the Voyageur Upgrader Limited Partnership to Suncor Energy Inc, which owns the remaining 51%. The transfer of interest for cash is effective immediately.

KBR to Execute Oil Sands Tailings Management Project for Syncrude Canada Ltd.
KBR (NYSE:KBR) announced today that it was awarded two contracts for Syncrude Canada Ltd. (Syncrude) to execute module fabrication and field construction for its Fluid Fine Tailings – Centrifuging Full Scale Plant (FFT-CFSP) in Fort McMurray, Alberta, Canada. Syncrude, which operates a surface mining oil sands plant in northeastern Alberta, is currently implementing a multi-pronged approach to manage tailings – the byproduct of the bitumen extraction process.

Baytex Announces Acquisition Of Oil Sands Leases And Approved SAGD Project
Baytex Energy Corp. ("Baytex") (TSX, NYSE: BTE) is pleased to announce that it has entered into an agreement to acquire a 100% working interest in approximately 46 sections of undeveloped oil sands leases in the Cold Lake area of northeast Alberta. Total consideration for the acquisition of $120 million (before closing adjustments and costs) will be funded by drawing on Baytex's revolving credit facility. The acquisition is expected to close in early October.

Cenovus purchases Oilsands Quest assets
An agreement by Cenovus Energy Inc. (TSX, NYSE: CVE) to purchase the remaining assets of Oilsands Quest for $10 million received approval from the Alberta Court of Queen’s Bench today. The majority of the assets are located adjacent to Cenovus’s proposed Telephone Lake oil sands project in northern Alberta.

Cenovus achieves first production at Christina Lake expansion
Cenovus Energy Inc. (TSX, NYSE: CVE) is producing oil from phase D at its Christina Lake oil sands operation approximately three months ahead of schedule and within budget. The company began injecting steam in the second quarter of this year and began producing in late July. Production at Christina Lake in August averaged more than 61,000 barrels per day (bbls/d) gross, an increase of nearly 4,000 bbls/d when compared to production in the second quarter. Christina Lake is operated by Cenovus and jointly owned with ConocoPhillips.

Southern Pacific Completes Project Start-Up With Steam To Second Well Pad At Mckay
Southern Pacific (“STP” or the “Company”) is pleased to announce that steam began circulating through the second pad of six steam assisted gravity drainage (“SAGD”) well pairs at the STP-McKay Thermal Project on July 13. This brings the total SAGD well pair count currently being steamed to twelve. Steam began circulating to the first pad of six well pairs on July 1. Steam will now be circulated through all twelve SAGD wellbores for a period of three to four months, after which bitumen production is scheduled to begin.

Cenovus receives approval for Narrows Lake project
Cenovus Energy Inc. (TSX, NYSE: CVE) has received approval from the Alberta Energy Resources Conservation Board (ERCB) to proceed with its Narrows Lake oil sands project. Narrows Lake is just north of Cenovus’s currently operating Christina Lake facility, near Conklin in northern Alberta. The project is anticipated to have gross production capacity of 130,000 barrels per day (bbls/d) and be developed in three phases. Ground work for the initial phase of 45,000 bbls/d is expected to begin this fall.

URS Awarded Oil Sands Pipeline Construction Contract Contract Has Maximum Value of $130 Million to URS
URS Corporation (NYSE: URS) announced today that the Company’s Oil & Gas division has been selected as the pipeline construction contractor for a major Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage (SAGD) oil sands project in the Wood Buffalo Region near Fort McMurray, Alberta. The contract, which has a maximum value of approximately $130 million to URS, is expected to commence in the second quarter of 2012 and to continue until mid-2013.

CB&I Awarded Contract for Oil Sands Project in Canada
CB&I (NYSE:CBI) announced today it has been awarded a contract, valued in excess of US$50 million, for an oil sands project in Canada. The scope of work primarily includes the assembly of coke drums and a fractionator tower. The work is expected to be complete in 2014.
