Rosneft Drills a Record-breaking Well in Venezuela
Rosneft, as part of a PetroMiranda JV including PDVSA and Gazprom Neft, has drilled an unprecedented horizontal well GG1-14 at the Junin-6 block. The well is unique for the shallow depth, only 1,140 feet or about 347 meters, of the reservoir interval and the length of horizontal section 4,920 feet or 1,500 meters. The total length of the well is 6,059 feet (some 1,847 meters).

Metso gets follow-up order for valve technology from Sino-Venezuela Guangdong Petrochemical Company in China
Metso has won a second major order for advanced valve technology from Sino-Venezuela Guangdong Petrochemical Company for its 20 million ton-per-year heavy crude oil processing project in China. The new delivery includes large Neles® valves for the delayed coking process, which is one of the demanding subprocesses in oil refining. This process sets especially high requirements for valve reliability and tightness.

Technip awarded contract for two hydrogen reformers in Venezuela
Technip was awarded by the Hyundai-Wison consortium(1) a significant(2) contract to supply its proprietary technology as well as engineering and procurement services for two hydrogen reformers in Venezuela. These 135-million standard cubic feet per day (151-thousand normal cubic meters per hour) reformers are part of the Deep Conversion project being executed by the consortium for Venezuela’s state oil company, Petroleos de Venezuela SA (PDVSA), to upgrade the Puerto La Cruz refinery.

Rosneft and Venezuelan Corporacion Venezolana del Petroleo Sign Joint Venture Agreement

Eni announces first production from the Junin-5 giant heavy oil field in Venezuela
PetroJunín, joint venture formed by PDVSA (60%) and Eni (40%), has started production from the Junín-5 giant heavy oil field, located in the Faja del Orinoco, the area with the largest untapped hydrocarbon reserves in the world. The block is located around 550 kilometers south east of Caracas and covers an area of approximately 425 square kilometers.

Repsol begins accelerated hydrocarbon production in the Orinoco Belt
Antonio Brufau, Repsol CEO and Chairman, attended today the first oil production ceremony for the Carabobo well, situated in the Orinoco Oil Belt. The well is operated by Petrocarabobo, a joint-venture company set up in Venezuela in June 2010 in which PDVSA has a 60% stake and Repsol owns 11%, with other companies also owning stakes.

Foster Wheeler Awarded Design Contract for New Refinery in Venezuela
Foster Wheeler AG (Nasdaq: FWLT) announced today that a subsidiary of its Global Engineering and Construction Group, in consortium with Hyundai Engineering and Construction Co., Ltd. (HDEC), of South Korea, has been awarded a contract by Petróleos de Venezuela, S.A. (PDVSA) for Phase I (Hydroskimming section) of the new Batalla Santa Ines Refinery to be built in Barinas, Venezuela. Foster Wheeler's scope of work includes early detailed engineering design and the delivery of an open book estimate for the crude distillation unit, storage and blending unit and fuel distribution plant.
