Rosneft and Statoil sign shareholder agreements for Russian offshore exploration joint ventures
Rosneft and Statoil today signed Shareholder and Operating Agreements that will establish joint ventures for the four offshore Russian license areas included in the Cooperation Agreement signed by the two companies on May 5, 2012. The license areas in question are Perseevsky in the Barents Sea and Kashevarovsky, Lisyansky and Magadan 1 in the Sea of Okhotsk.

Rosneft Begins Geological Exploration in the Kara Sea
Rosneft has begun exploration work at the East Prinovozemelsky 1 and 2 license blocks in the Kara Sea. Geological surveying has been started one year ahead of the license schedule. Work will run through October 2012. The surveying programme was devised together with ExxonMobil, Rosneft’s strategic partner in development of the East Prinovozemelsky 1, 2 and 3 blocks. RN Shelf Far East, a Rosneft subsidiary, will carry out the work.

Rosneft Launches Seismic Survey in Pechora Sea
Rosneft has begun offshore exploration at the South Russky license block in the Pechora Sea. A 3D CDP seismic survey covering 1,200 square kilometres is being carried out by three field exploration parties from Yuzhmorgeologiya. Yuzhmorgeologiya, Iskatel 5, Vyborgsky and Petrogradsky research vessels as well as some 20 auxiliary vessels are involved in the project. Work will run through October 2012.

Rosneft and ITERA Group Close Deal to Create Joint Venture to Produce and Sell Gas
Rosneft and ITERA Group have closed a deal to create a joint venture on the basis of ITERA Oil and Gas Company to produce and sell gas in line with the terms of a strategic cooperation agreement signed on 28 February 2012. Rosneft obtained 51% in the joint venture in exchange for a 100% stake in the charter capital of Kynsko-Chaselskoye Neftegaz (which owns the license for the Kynsko-Chaselsk license block) and a cash consideration of $173.4 million. This sum may be adjusted following an analysis of the financial results of ITERA Oil and Gas Company, its subsidiaries and affiliates and Kynsko-Chaselskoye Neftegaz as of the deal completion date.

Rosneft announces that, in connection with BP’s recent statements regarding its intention to pursue a potential sale of its participation in TNK-BP, Rosneft has informed BP of Rosneft’s interest in a potential acquisition of such participation. As a result, the parties agreed to commence negotiations on this matter and signed a non-disclosure agreement.

Eni signs Exploration Loan Facility Agreement with Rosneft for joint activities in the Barents Sea and the Black Sea
Eni CEO Paolo Scaroni and Rosneft Vice President Igor Pavlov signed an Exploration Loan Facility Agreement today, in the presence of the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Dmitri Medvedev, and Italian Prime Minister Mario Monti. The agreement concerns Eni's financing costs, as determined by previous agreements between Eni and Rosneft, relating to exploration activities to be jointly conducted by the two companies offshore Russia in the Barents Sea and Black Sea.

Drilling of Prospecting and Appraisal Well Begins at Sakhalin-3 Veninsky License Block
Drilling of prospecting and appraisal well No.3 has begun at the North-Veninskaya formation in the Veninsky license block, a part of the Sakhalin-3 project. The KANTAN 6 jack-up drilling rig is drilling the well, which has a planned measured depth of 3,830 metres and vertical deviation of 750 metres. The drilling site is located 7 kilometres offshore at a sea depth of 25 metres. Drilling and subsequent geological and geophysical survey will run through the end of September.
