Shell announces Utica gas discovery in Pennsylvania
Shell today announced new discovery wells (Neal and Gee) within the Utica formation in Tioga County, Pennsylvania, USA. These wells were drilled to a total measured depth of approximately 4,420 and 4,724 metres (14,500 and 15,500 feet) with lateral lengths of 945 metres (3,100 feet) at Gee and 1,280 metres (4,200 feet) at Neal, respectively. These results are comparable to the best publically announced thus far in the emerging Southeast Ohio Utica dry gas play.

Shell divests U.S. onshore gas assets in Pinedale and Haynesville, adds acreage in Marcellus and Utica
Royal Dutch Shell plc (“Shell”) announces today two separate transactions whereby the company will exit its Pinedale and Haynesville onshore gas assets in exchange for approximately $2.1 billion of cash, plus additional acreage in the Marcellus and Utica Shale areas in Pennsylvania.

Devon Energy Announces Acquisition of Cana-Woodford Shale Acreage
Devon Energy Corporation (NYSE:DVN) announced today it has agreed to acquire 50,000 net acres and associated production primarily in the Cana-Woodford Shale for $249 million in cash. The acquired properties represent half of the interests Cimarex Energy (NYSE:XEC) is agreeing to acquire in a cash transaction announced today. Devon’s portion of the agreed acquisition includes current production of approximately 5,800 barrels of oil equivalent per day (37 percent liquids) and proved reserves of approximately 23 million barrels of oil equivalent as of January 1, 2014.

Encana Continues Bold Change With US$3.1 Billion Oil-Rich Eagle Ford Acquisition
In a bold strategic move, Encana (TSX:ECA)(NYSE:ECA) will significantly accelerate its plan to transition its portfolio and grow shareholder value through an agreement reached with Freeport-McMoRan for Encana's wholly owned subsidiary, Encana Oil & Gas (USA) Inc., to acquire approximately 45,500 net acres in Karnes, Wilson and Atascosa counties of south Texas for about US$3.1 billion. The acreage produced approximately 53,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boe/d) in the first quarter of 2014 and has an estimated drilling inventory of more than 400 locations. The area is widely known as being in the heart of the oil-rich Eagle Ford resource play. The deal, which Encana anticipates will be accretive to 2014 cash flow, will approximately double the Company's current oil production and significantly enhance its continuing efforts to reposition to a more balanced commodity portfolio.

Chevron, YPF Continue Development of Vaca Muerta Shale in Argentina

Pioneer Natural Resources Announces $1.7 Billion Horizontal Wolfcamp Shale Transaction with Sinochem
Pioneer Natural Resources Company (NYSE:PXD) (“Pioneer” or “the Company”) today announced that the Company has signed an agreement with Sinochem Petroleum USA LLC, a U.S. subsidiary of the Sinochem Group (“Sinochem”), to sell 40% of Pioneer’s interest in approximately 207,000 net acres leased by the Company (“joint interest area”) in the highly prospective horizontal Wolfcamp Shale play in the southern portion of the Spraberry Trend Area Field for a total price of $1.7 billion. At closing, Sinochem will pay $500 million in cash to Pioneer, before normal closing adjustments, and will pay the remaining $1.2 billion by carrying a portion of Pioneer’s share of future drilling and facilities costs (“drilling carry”).
