MHI to Build First "Sayaendo" New-generation LNG Carrier
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI), has agreed with Osaka Gas International Transport Inc. (OGIT), a group company of Osaka Gas Co., Ltd., and Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd to build two new-generation liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers. The event will represent the first construction of the "Sayaendo" Series, which significantly improves fuel consumption and maintainability through various features, including enhancement of ship structure efficiency. Two LNG carriers are slated for delivery in 2014 and 2015, respectively.

ExxonMobil’s U.S. Marine Affiliate to Build Two New Crude Carriers in Philadelphia
Exxon Mobil Corporation’s U.S. marine affiliate, SeaRiver Maritime, Inc., signed an agreement today with Aker Philadelphia Shipyard for the construction of two new Liberty Class tankers valued at $400 million, which will create more than 1,000 direct jobs.

SHI Signs USD 1.08 Billion Contract for Two Units of Drill Ships
Samsung Heavy Industries, which is the first company in the domestic shipbuilding industry to achieve its annual order target for 2010, announced on the 11th that it had signed a contract to build two units of drill ships for Seadrill, a Norwegian firm. The contract amount is USD 1.08 billion.
