Statoil awarding contract for utility and living quarters on Johan Sverdrup
Statoil is, on behalf of the Johan Sverdrup partnership, signing a contract with a joint venture consisting of Kvaerner and KBR for construction of the topside for the utility and living quarters platform. The contract has a value of NOK 6.7 billion.

Åsgard subsea gas compression lowered into place
The installation of the modules that collectively constitute Åsgard subsea gas compression has commenced on the Åsgard field. Innovative technology at a depth of 300 metres will create 282 million extra barrels from the Åsgard field.

ABB wins $155 million order to power large North Sea oilfield
ABB, the leading power and automation technology group, has won an order worth $155 million from Norway’s Statoil to supply systems and equipment to two HVDC converter stations linking the recently discovered Johan Sverdrup offshore field with the onshore grid. The contract has been booked in the first quarter of 2015.

Another gas discovery in the Aasta Hansteen area
Operator Statoil has together with PL602 partners made a gas discovery in the Roald Rygg prospect in the Norwegian Sea. This is the second Statoil discovery in the Aasta Hansteen area in spring 2015.

Valemon officially opened
Petroleum and energy minister Tord Lien is opening the Valemon gas and condensate field in the North Sea today. Expected recoverable reserves from the field are 192 million barrels of oil equivalent.

Polarled pipe-laying
On 26 March, the Solitaire pipe-laying vessel started on the first stage of the Polarled installation project. The 482-kilometre long pipeline will transport gas from the Aasta Hansteen field in the Norwegian Sea to Nyhamna in western Norway.
