Fire Incident at TonenGeneral Sekiyu K.K. Kawasaki Refinery
TonenGeneral Sekiyu K.K. has announced that a fire was observed at around 13:40 today in the upper part of the reactor tower of the resid hydroconversion unit at its Kawasaki Refinery (7-1, Ukishimacho, Kawasaki, Kanagawa; Refinery Manager: Fumito Fujii). The unit was under operational
suspension and was undergoing a cleaning process due to maintenance work.

Six contractors were treated at a hospital as a result of this incident. One of the contractors will be hospitalized overnight for observation.

Currently the resid hydroconversion unit is being filled with nitrogen gas to avoid contact with air, and the situation is under control.

Other units at the refinery are operating normally including land and sea shipping facilities. Further updates will be announced as necessary.

We pray for the quick recovery of the six contractors affected by this incident. We offer our deepest apologies to the local community and to all those involved for any inconvenience and anxiety caused by the incident.
