Transocean Ltd. Announces 10-Year Contracts for 4 Newbuild Ultra-Deepwater Drillships
Transocean Ltd. (NYSE: RIG) (SIX: RIGN) today announced that it has been awarded 10-year contracts for four newbuild dynamically positioned ultra-deepwater drillships by Royal Dutch Shell (Shell). Shipyard delivery for the first drillship is scheduled for mid-2015. The remaining three drillships are expected to be delivered from the shipyard at approximately six-month intervals thereafter. After customer acceptance, the contracts are expected to commence in 2015 and 2016, contributing an estimated revenue backlog of $7.6 billion, excluding mobilization. The aggregate capital investment for the four newbuild rigs is an estimated $3.0 billion, excluding capitalized interest.

Transocean Ltd. Provides Brazil Frade Field Incident Update
Transocean Ltd. (NYSE: RIG) (SIX: RIGN) announced today that at approximately noon Rio De Janeiro time (11 a.m., ET), September 27, 2012, the federal court in Rio de Janeiro served the company with a preliminary injunction requiring that it cease operations in Brazil within 30 calendar days from the date of service. The company is vigorously pursuing the overturn or suspension of the preliminary injunction, including through an appeal to the Superior Court of Justice. Absent relief from the courts, Transocean will be required to comply with the preliminary injunction.

BP Statement on U.S. District Court Ruling on Partial Summary Judgment Regarding Indemnity in Deepwater Horizon Accident
Today's ruling makes clear that contractors will be held accountable for their actions under the law. While all official investigations have concluded that Transocean played a causal role in the accident, the contractor has long contended it is fully indemnified by BP for the liabilities resulting from the oil spill. The Court rejected this view.

Transocean Provides Update On Event In Brazil
On or about November 7, 2011, a hydrocarbon release occurred in the vicinity of a development well being drilled by Chevron Corporation (“Chevron”) off the coast of Rio de Janeiro in the Frade field with a semisubmersible drilling rig, the SEDCO 706, owned by a subsidiary of Transocean Ltd. (“Transocean”). The incident involved the release of hydrocarbons from fissures in the seabed. The development well was killed and the oil spill, estimated by Chevron to be approximately 2,400 barrels, is being contained by Chevron. There are no reports of the oil spill reaching the shoreline.

No Oil Leaking From Sunken Transocean Rig or Riser, Investigation Confirms
Transocean Ltd. (NYSE: RIG) (SIX: RIGN) — A comprehensive two-day underwater examination conducted by Transocean and the US Coast Guard (USCG) on October 4th and 5th confirmed that there are no hydrocarbons leaking from of the sunken Deepwater Horizon or the riser, the pipe that linked the rig to the well head before the Macondo accident last year. The inspection, conducted with the use of a remotely operated underwater vehicle (ROV), also failed to find any "sheen" or oil in the area.

Transocean Launches Unconditional Offer for Shares of Aker Drilling
Transocean Services AS ("Transocean" or the "Company"), a wholly owned subsidiary of Transocean Ltd. (NYSE: RIG) (SIX: RIGN), today, after receiving clearance by the Oslo Stock Exchange, launched its all cash voluntary offer (the "Offer") for 100 percent of the shares of Aker Drilling ASA ("Aker Drilling") for NOK 26.50 per share. The Offer has been made on the same terms as the previously announced voluntary offer, except that it has been made on an unconditional basis and with settlement guaranteed by a financial institution.

Transocean Issues Update on Macondo Incident
Transocean Ltd. (NYSE: RIG) (SIX: RIGN) announced today that an affiliate of BP plc on April 20, 2011 filed a cross-claim against Transocean entities in the existing Multi-District Litigation proceeding in the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Louisiana for contribution pursuant to the Oil Pollution Act of 1990. Pursuant to an order of the court, co-defendants in a consolidated proceeding related to the Macondo well incident were required to file claims by April 20, 2011.
